WaterGuard Piping Protects Hampden, ME Basement from Flooding
Challenge
A homeowner living in Hampden, ME was having some water problems within their basement. Although they had a concrete foundation surrounding the space, water would still leak in during rain storms, creating a layer of water across the floor. These conditions were something the homeowner needed resolved right away. They searched online for a solution and quickly found TC Hafford Basement Systems. They received their free estimate and then our crew got to work!
Solution
Once our installation crew arrived at the home, they were able to begin work on the basement floor by excavating a shallow trench into the perimeter of the concrete. WaterGuard piping was laid within this trench, surrounding the basement floor. Buried beneath a fresh coating of concrete, the WaterGuard pipes are concealed within the floor where they will act to capture any moisture leaking in through the floor in the future. This water is guided through the pipes to the sump where it will be removed from the basement without ever reaching the surface of the floor.
Within the sump, we installed a SuperSump sump pump with an UltraSump attachment hooked to a nearby wall. The SuperSump will take the water from the WaterGuard and force it out of the home through a PVC discharge line. This pump can handle up to 2,650 gallons of water every hour. The UltraSump attachment is a backup battery that will allow for the SuperSump to continue to operate when the home is without power. This battery enables the sump to remove up to 11,000 gallons of water before requiring a charge.
With their new basement upgrades in place, flooding will no longer be a concern for this homeowner during any rainfall. The WaterGuard & SuperSump combination will keep this basement water-free for years to come!
