Complete Basement Waterproofing Prevents Water Damage to Caribou, ME Home

Challenge

A homeowner living in Caribou, ME wanted to finish their basement to add more livable space to their home. However, there was one thing stopping them from moving forward on this project. Water would occasionally leak in through the concrete foundation of the home and gather across the floor. This would be a major problem if left unaddressed. Looking to avoid water damage in the future, the homeowner sought a solution online. They soon came across TC Hafford Basement Systems and gave us a call immediately!

Solution

Once our installation crew arrived at the home, they were able to begin work on the basement floor by excavating a shallow trench into the perimeter of the concrete floor. This enabled our team to lay WaterGuard piping down within the floor, surrounding the space. Once these pipes are buried beneath a fresh layer of concrete, they will act to capture any leaking moisture before it is able to reach the surface of the concrete. This water is directed through the floor to the TripleSafe sump pump, where it will be removed from the home through a PVC discharge ling. This pump contains three pumps, two of these handle the bulk of the water while the third is a battery backup; for when the home loses power.

Now to handle the lingering moisture in the space and to keep the air water-free, we installed a SaniDry XP dehumidifier. This device will pull in the surrounding, damp air. The water is then separated from the air and passed on to the TripleSafe for removal from the home. The dried air is then circulated back into the basement, where it will cycle more damp air back toward the SaniDry to continue the process. Finally, to give conceal the concrete walls surrounding the space and brighten the space, BrightWall panels were installed across the walls of the basement. These panels, once installed, will collect any wall seepage and direct it to the WaterGuard to further protects against potential leaks.

With these installations in place, this homeowner can now finish their basement without the fear of water leaking in and damaging their property. The WaterGuard piping and BrightWall panels will ensure any leaks are removed from the home through the sump system before any problems can occur.
