Sump Upgrade Protects Ellsworth, ME Basement from Lingering Moisture
Challenge
A homeowner from Ellsworth, ME had a problem in their basement. Even though they had a sump in the floor to remove any rainwater entering the space, a recent power-outage left the basement defenseless against the elements. With moisture now lingering in their basement, the homeowner sought a solution to their problem online before the problem got worse. They soon found TC Hafford Basement Systems and gave us a call to get us on the job!
Solution
Once our installation crew arrived at the home, they were able to begin work on the basement right away. They began by attaching an UltraSump backup battery to the wall nearest the existing sump. This device, connected to the sump pump in the floor, will supply power to the sump when the home loses power in the future. To handle the moisture lingering in the air of the space, we installed a SaniDry XP dehumidifier. The SaniDry will take in the surrounding damp air, separating the moisture from it and circulating the dried air back into the basement. The collected water is then passed through some piping to the sump where it will be removed from the home. This process will continue until the basement air quality is back to dry and healthy!
With their new sump upgrade in place, this homeowner once again has a dry basement, safe from outside leakages. The SaniDry XP and UltraSump will keep this basement protected against the elements for years to come!
