WaterGuard Installation Keeps Cape Elizabeth, ME Basement Water-Free
Challenge
A homeowner living in Cape Elizabeth, ME had been living with a damp basement for years. Finally needing to use the space for storage, the homeowner found that the water gathering across the concrete floor would hinder their ability to do so. To remedy his problem before moving forward, the homeowner sought a solution online. Once they found TC Hafford Basement Systems, they gave us a call and got set up with their free estimate.
Solution
Once our installation crew arrived at the home, they began work on the basement floor right away. A shallow trench was dug into the perimeter of the concrete basement floor, where WaterGuard piping then laid surrounding the floor. Buried beneath a layer of loose rocks and concrete, the piping is sealed within the floor where it will capture any leaking moisture. The WaterGuard will now take in any rainwater that would have otherwise reached the surface of the floor and guide it through the floor to the sump to be removed from the home.
Moving on from the WaterGuard installation, our crew installed a SuperSump sump pump in this basement floor with an UltraSump backup battery attached to the nearest wall. The SuperSump will take in the water from the WaterGuard piping and force it up and out of the home. The water will follow a PVC discharge line out of the home where it is deposited onto the ground a distance from the home. The SuperSump can be removed up to 2,650 gallons of water every hour. The UltraSump hooked up to the SuperSump will enable the sump pump to continue to operate even when the home loses power. The UltraSump will allow for the SuperSump to remove up to 11,000 gallons of water before requiring a charge.
With these new installations in place, this homeowner will now be able to use their basement for storage without needing to fear any water damage destroying their property. The WaterGuard & sump upgrade will keep this basement water-free for many years to come!
