WaterGuard Piping Protects Standish, ME Basement from Water Damage
Challenge
A homeowner living in Standish, ME had been experiencing troubles with moisture gathering across their basement floor. The water was leaking in through their concrete foundation and lingering in puddles on the floor. Needing this problem revolved to protect their property from water damage, the homeowner searched online for a solution. As soon as they found TC Hafford Basement Systems the knew we would be the right company for the job! They gave us a call and we got our crew out to look at the home. Once the homeowner gave the go-ahead, we got to work!
Solution
Once our installation crew arrived at the home, they began work on the basement by excavating a shallow trench into the perimeter of the basement floor. WaterGuard piping was then laid down within this trench, surrounding the basement floor. These pipes are then buried beneath some loose rocks and concrete to conceal them within the floor without hindering their functionality. Once inside, the piping will take in the water leaking through the foundation, leading it directly to the sump in the basement floor. Now no water will reach the surface of the floor from the outside.
Moving on to the sump, our crew installed a SuperSump sump pump with an UltraSump attachment on the nearby wall. The SuperSump takes in the water passed to it by the new WaterGuard piping. The water is forced up and out of the home by the pump through a PVC discharge line. The water follows this line away from the home where it is then deposited on the lawn. This device can remove up to 2,650 gallons of water from the home every hour. The UltraSump attachment is a backup battery to enable the SuperSump to survive harsh storms. The UltraSump will allow the sump to continue operating after the home loses power for up to 11,000 gallons worth of water-removal.
With their new WaterGuard piping and sump system installation, this homeowner will no longer have any moisture problems to worry about beneath their home! The WaterGuard piping will keep this basement floor water-free for many years to come!
