Sump Upgrade Keeps Somersworth, NH Basement Safe from Flooding
Challenge
A homeowner living in Somersworth, NH was suffering from a damp basement. Their existing sump drain would regularly be overwhelmed by the amount of rainwater leaking into their basement. Without a way to readily stop this water from flooding their basement, the homeowner sought a solution online. Once they found TC Hafford Basement Systems, they knew they found the right company for the job. They gave us a call and we got to work!
Solution
Once our installation crew arrived at the home, they began work on the basement right away. To keep water from building up across the floor, a TripleSafe sump pump was installed within the basement floor. This new sump contains three pumps within itself. The primary and secondary pumps both act to remove the bulk of the water from the home, with the secondary pump only activating when the primary fails for any reason. The third and final pump is a battery-operated backup pump for when the home loses power. This third pump will keep the basement dry even when the weather is intense enough to knock out power. Any water in the TripleSafe is forced up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line.
Outside the home, we made two additions to the discharge line to complete this basement waterproofing. The first addition was an IceGuard pipe segment attached just beyond where the line exits the home. This section of piping has angled holes built into itself which allow for any trapped water to escape, protecting the sump against any overflows if the line becomes blocked by ice or other debris. Finally, a LawnScape discharge port was attached to the end of the line. The water exits onto the ground through this piece, far enough from the home to prevent any future leakages.
With their new sump upgrade complete, this homeowner no longer has to worry about water flooding across their basement floor. The TripleSafe sump pump will keep this basement floor dry for many years into the future!
