WaterGuard Installation Protects Falmouth, ME Basement From Flooding
Challenge
A homeowner living in Falmouth, ME was experiencing some troubles beneath their home. With a concrete foundation surrounding their basement, they would still regularly find their basement with standing water from rainfall leaking into the basement. Unsure how to stop this leakage on their own and worried about potential water damage, the homeowner sought a solution online. They soon found TC Hafford Basement Systems and gave us a call to take care of their problem once and for all!
Solution
Once our installation crew arrived at the property, they were able to get started on the basement waterproofing right away! They began by excavating a shallow trench into the perimeter of the floor where WaterGuard piping was then laid. Buried beneath a fresh layer of concrete, the WaterGuard will take in any moisture leaking in through the floor and guide it to the sump for removal. Within the sump, a SuperSump sump pump was installed to handle the water-removal. The SuperSump can remove over 2,600 gallons of water every hour, which is forced out of the home through a PVC discharge line.
Following the discharge line outside, the water passes through an IceGuard pipe section just on the exterior of the home. This pipe segment has special holes in the sides which allow for trapped water to escape the line. This will protect the sump from any overflow caused by ice or debris blocking the line. Finally, the water exits through a LawnScape discharge port on the end of the line. Here the water will drain away into the ground harmlessly. This far from the home, the water will no longer pose a threat to the basement.
With their new waterproofing in place, this homeowner has no more need to fear any moisture damage taking root beneath their home. Their new WaterGuard piping system will keep their home water-free for many years to come!
