Sump Upgrade Keeps Sanford, ME Basement Water-Free
Challenge
A homeowner living in Sanford, ME was in need of some basement waterproofing. With water leaking into their basement during rainfall, the existing sump drain within their basement just wasn’t enough. Needing to keep water off their basement floor, the homeowner sought solutions to their problems online. Once they found TC Hafford Basement Systems, they knew they found the company for the job! They gave us a call and we got to work.
Solution
As soon as our installation crew arrived at the home, they began the installation of the sump upgrades. To keep up with the rainwater leaking into the basement, we installed a TripleSafe sump system in the existing sump hole. This device houses three pumps within itself. The first of these pumps handle the bulk of the water, with the secondary pump taking over if the primary fails for any reason. The water is forced up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. The third and final pump is a battery-operated backup pump. This will ensure the basement remains dry even if the home loses power.
Outside the home, we made two final additions to the discharge line before this waterproofing was complete. The first addition was an IceGuard pipe segment attached just outside the home. This piece has special holes built into it which allow for trapped water to escape. This prevents blocked water from reaching the sump to cause an overflow. At the end of the line, a LawnScape discharge port was attached to allow the water out onto the ground to drain away harmlessly.
With their new sump system installed, moisture build-up will no longer be a problem for this homeowner. The TripleSafe sump pump will keep this basement water-free for many years to come!
