Sump Upgrade Protects Augusta, ME Basement From Moisture Damage
Challenge
A homeowner living in Augusta, ME had been having some troubles with water in their basement. Even with a sump in the floor of the space, this system would occasionally become overwhelmed by incoming water. This would cause pooling across the basement floor which could easily lead to moisture damage in the basement. To prevent this from happening, the homeowner called us at TC Hafford Basement Systems!
Solution
Once our installation crew arrived at the home, they began work on the basement right away. To keep water from overwhelming the sump in the future, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This device can handle over 2,600 gallons of water every hour, removing said water from the home through a PVC discharge line. As this water exits the home through this line, it passes through an IceGuard pipe segment just outside the home. This pipe section has holes built into the sides to protect the sump against an overflow due to an ice or debris blockage. Keeping the SuperSump active even when the home is without power, an UltraSump backup battery was installed on a nearby wall. The UltraSump will allow the SuperSump to continue to remove water for up to 11,000 gallons before requiring a charge.
With this upgrade in place, this homeowner will no longer need to worry about a flooding basement. The SuperSump & UltraSump combination will keep this basement dry no matter the weather conditions!
