WaterGuard Piping Protects Bangor, ME Basement From Water Damage
Challenge
A homeowner living in Bangor, ME owned a basement which would regularly take on the water whenever it would rain. The concrete foundation beneath the home was not keeping any of the water at bay. This was beginning to become a problem for the homeowner when they needed the space for storage because the water would damage their property if left unattended. To remedy the problem, the homeowner searched online for a solution. Once they found TC Hafford Basement Systems, they knew just who to call.
Solution
Once our installation crew arrived at the home, they began work on the basement right away. They started by excavating a shallow trench into the perimeter of the basement floor. This was where they then laid a WaterGuard piping system. These pipes, surrounding the basement floor, will capture the leaking moisture from now on before it is able to reach the surface of the floor. The pipes were then buried beneath a fresh coat of concrete to conceal them within the floor. All of the water gathered by the WaterGuard will be guided beneath the floor to the sump where it will be removed from the basement.
Within the sump of this basement, a SuperSump sump pump was installed to manage the removal of the water. This pump can force over 2,600 gallons of water out of the home every hour. This water travels up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. The SuperSump, however, is susceptible to power outages. To prevent any downtime during particularly bad storms, we installed an UltraSump backup battery. This device will allow the SuperSump to continue functioning for up to 11,000 gallons worth of water removal before requiring a charge. This will ensure the basement remains dry even during the harshest storms.
With these new additions to their home, this homeowner no longer has anything to worry about when using their basement to store their belongings. The WaterGuard piping will keep this basement floor dry for many years into the future!
