Sebasco Estates, ME Basement Kept Dry Thanks to WaterGuard Piping
Challenge
A homeowner from Sebasco Estates, ME was in dire need of basement waterproofing. Their basement would be wet for weeks after any heavy rainfall. Even their concrete foundation was unable to keep the water at bay. To remedy the situation, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems and we were on the job!
Solution
As soon as our crew arrived at the home, they began work by excavating a shallow trench in the perimeter of the basement floor. This trench allowed our crew to install WaterGuard piping. These pipes, surrounding the basement floor just beneath the surface, will capture the leaking moisture from the rain. This captured moisture is guided through the pipes to the sump to be removed from the home. The WaterGuard piping is buried beneath a fresh coat of concrete to conceal it within the floor.
To remove the water gathered within the WaterGuard, we installed a SuperSump sump pump in the floor of the basement. The WaterGuard piping feeds directly into the SuperSump, which will force the water up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. The SuperSump can move over 2,600 gallons of water every hour, plenty of power to keep any storm from flooding this basement. To keep the sump operational in any weather, an UltraSump backup battery was attached. This battery will allow the SuperSump to continue to remove water long after the home loses power. Only requiring a charge after removing up to 11,000 gallons of water.
Outside the home, we made two final additions to the discharge line before we were done. The first was an IceGuard pipe segment attached just where the line exits the home. This pipe piece has special angled holes built into it. These holes protect the sump from ice or debris blocking the line. Any blocked water will escape through these holes before reaching the sump to cause an overflow. Lastly, at the end of the line, we attached a LawnScape discharge port. The water exits through this piece onto the lawn, where it drains away harmlessly into the ground a safe distance from the home.
With these new installations, this homeowner will no longer experience a damp basement after a storm. The WaterGuard will keep the incoming water from ever reaching the surface of the basement floor.
