WaterGuard Piping Protects Cape Porpoise, ME Basement From Flooding
Challenge
A homeowner living in Cape Porpoise, ME had been having some trouble down in their basement. Rainwater had been leaking into the space, right through a concrete foundation. Unsure how to stop the leaking water on their own, the homeowner sought a solution. Once they came across TC Hafford Basement Systems, they gave us a call and hired us to take care of their wet basement problem.
Solution
As soon as our installation crew arrived at the property, they got straight to work on the basement floor. First, a shallow trench was dug into the perimeter of the floor. WaterGuard piping was then laid within this new trench, where it was covered over with a fresh coating of concrete. Beneath the surface of the floor, the WaterGuard piping will capture any moisture trying to leak into the home. This trapped water is then guided through the piping to the sump for removal from the home. This will keep the floor water-free from no-on.
Within the sump, we installed a TripleSafe sump pump. This device houses three pumps within itself, which are used to remove the water from the home through a PVC discharge line. The first and second pumps both handle the bulk of the water, with the secondary pump only activating if the primary pump fails to keep up with the flow. The third pump is a battery-operated pump which will keep the basement safe from water even when the home is without power. Finally, we installed a SaniDry XP dehumidifier in the basement to manage the moisture in the air of the space. The SaniDry will take in the surrounding damp air, separating the moisture from it. This moisture is then passed to the TripleSafe for removal from the home. The dried air is then circulated back into the basement, where it will spread until all of the air within the space is dry and healthy.
With their new waterproofing system in place, this homeowner will no longer need to worry about moisture problems taking root within their basement. The WaterGuard & TripleSafe combination will ensure this basement remains water-free for years to come!
