Crawlspace & Basement in China Village, ME Receive Proper Waterproofing
Challenge
A homeowner who lived in China Village, ME was in need of some serious waterproofing. Both the crawlspace and basement beneath the home would take on the water whenever any rain fell. Tired of having these conditions beneath their home and worried about the moisture problems that could arise, the homeowner searched online for a solution. They soon found TC Hafford Basement Systems and gave us a call right away!
Solution
Once our installation crew arrived at the home, they began their work on the crawlspace. This started with a re-grading of the space to clear away any debris that would be in the way of our waterproofing. Next, a Drainage Matting was laid across the floor of the space, which sits just off the floor to act as a barrier. The water trapped beneath can still flow to the best location for draining back into the ground. To finish the vapor barrier for the crawlspace, a CleanSpace liner was used to encapsulate the interior of the space. This sealed off the surrounding ground from the interior of the space completely.
Moving onto the basement, a new SuperSump sump pump was installed in the floor to handle any leaking water. This pump is capable of removing up to 2,650 gallons of water every hour. This removed water is pumped up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. Here it is carried away from the home, passing through a LawnScape discharge port on the end to drain away harmlessly into the ground. Connecting this discharge line to the home was an IceGuard pipe section. This special piece of pipe has angled holes built into itself which protect the sump from ice or other blockages in the line. Any water trapped will be able to escape through the IceGuard without backing up into the home.
With these waterproofing upgrades installed beneath their home, this homeowner will no longer be at risk of serious moisture problems! The SuperSump and Vapor Barrier will keep this home dry for many years to come!
