WaterGuard Piping Protects Pemaquid, ME Basement
Challenge
A homeowner living in Pemaquid, ME was living with some trouble beneath their home. Even with a concrete foundation, their basement was still flooding during any heavy rainfall. This was a major problem for the homeowner and they needed a solution. To have their basement waterproofed the right way, they called TC Hafford Basement Systems to get the job done!
Solution
Once our installation crew arrived at the home, they began work on the basement floor right away by excavating the outer perimeter of the floor. This created a shallow trench surrounding the basement where we laid down WaterGuard piping. These pipes, buried beneath a fresh layer of concrete, will capture any moisture attempting to leak into the interior of the basement in the future. This trapped water is passed to the SuperSump sump pump we installed next in the basement floor. The SuperSump can move up to 2,650 gallons of water every hour out through the PVC discharge line. Now any water attempting to leak into this basement will be redirected out of the home.
On the exterior of the home, we made two final additions to the discharge line. The first addition was an IceGuard pipe section. This pipe piece was placed just where the discharge line left the home and acts to protect the sump from an overflow. There are special holes built into the sides of the IceGuard to allow water blocked by ice or debris to escape before backing up and reaching the sump. Lastly, we attached a LawnScape discharge port to the end of the line. The water exits the line through this piece, where it drains away into the ground far enough from the home to not cause the homeowner future troubles.
With these new products in place, this homeowner will no longer need to suffer from a flooding basement. The WaterGuard & SuperSump combination will ensure this basement remains dry for years to come!
