Belgrade Lakes, ME Basement Kept Dry With WaterGuard
Challenge
A homeowner in Belgrade Lakes, ME was living with a problem beneath their home. Water would leak into their basement during heavy rainfall. Even with a concrete foundation beneath the home, the water would still leak in and gather across the basement floor. Tired of their basement floor being wet, the homeowner thought it was time they did something about it. They called TC Hafford Basement Systems and we were on the job!
Solution
Once our installation crew arrived at the home, they began work right away on the basement floor. We started by excavating a shallow trench into the perimeter of the concrete floor. This was to allow us to place WaterGuard piping down within the floor, surrounding the basement. Once covered over with a fresh layer of concrete, the WaterGuard piping will act to capture any moisture trying to leak into the basement as it has been doing. This captured water is guided through the piping to the sump for removal from the home.
Next, we installed a SuperSump sump pump in the floor of the basement. The WaterGuard pipes feed into this sump, where the water is forced up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. The SuperSump can handle up to 2,650 gallons of water every hour. This will ensure this basement floor remains water-free. To protects the SuperSump from an overflow, we attached an IceGuard pipe segment to the discharge line just outside the home. The IceGuard has special holes built into it which allow for trapped water to escape the line if ice or other debris forms a blockage.
These new upgrades to their basement will keep this homeowner happy with their dry basement. The WaterGuard & SuperSump working in tandem will keep this basement water-free for years to come!
