Sump Upgrade Keeps Roxbury, ME Basement Water-Free
Challenge
A homeowner living in Roxbury, ME had been having some trouble with their basement. The had a sump in the floor, but without a pump, the sump was susceptible to being overwhelmed by incoming water. Tired of seeing their basement with standing water in it after a heavy rainstorm, the homeowner sought a solution to their problem. After finding TC Hafford Basement Systems they gave us a call and we were on the job!
Solution
Once the TC Hafford installation crew arrived at the home, they began work right away fixing the problem this homeowner was having. This started with a SuperSump sump pump being installed in the basement floor. This pump can move up to 2,650 gallons of water every hour. This should be plenty of power to keep this basement clear of standing water. To keep the SuperSump operational at all times, we attached an UltraSump backup batter. This device will allow the SuperSump to continue to operate for up to 11,000 gallons of water removal after the home loses power. The water is forced out of the home through a PVC discharge line, where it passes through an IceGuard pipe segment on the outside of the home before exiting onto the ground away from the home. The IceGuard section of piping has special holes built into it to protect the SuperSump from an overflow. If ice or debris blocks the line, the trapped water can escape through the IceGuard without backing up through the line.
With these installations in place, this homeowners’ moisture problems are now a thing of the past! The SuperSump & UltraSump combination can take on nearly any storm!
