WaterGuard Piping Stops Flooding in Alna, ME Basement
Challenge
A couple living in Alna, ME recently noticed their basement took on some water after a heavy rainstorm. With a concrete foundation, the homeowners were concerned with how the water got in and what to do to prevent it in the future for fear of water damage. Unsure how to solve this problem on their own, they searched online for a solution. They soon found TC Hafford Basement Systems and gave us a call to take care of the moisture problem.
Solution
Once our installation crew arrived at the home, the first step to waterproofing this concrete basement floor was to excavate a shallow trench into the perimeter of the basement floor. Within this trench, a WaterGuard piping system was laid. This piping was buried beneath loose gravel and a fresh coat of concrete to seal it within the floor without impeding its function. The pipes will capture any moisture leaking in toward the interior of this basement from now on. This trapped water is guided through the pipes to the sump where we installed a SmartSump sump pump. The SmartSump will force this collected water up and out of the basement through a PVC discharge line where it will be deposited onto the ground far enough from the home to not cause any further problems.
With this new waterproofing system seamlessly implemented in their basement, these homeowners now longer need to fear water damage. The WaterGuard piping will keep water from reaching this floors’ surface for many years to come!
