Proper Vapor Barrier Protects Morrill, ME Crawl Space From Moisture

Challenge

With a dirt crawlspace, a homeowner living in Morrill, ME was living with a problem. Because they had no waterproofing in the space, it would take on water almost every time it would rain. This was beginning to create a musty smell which was emanating throughout the home. Tired of this moisture build up, the homeowner needed a way to fix it. They searched online and called TC Hafford Basement Systems to get the job done!

Solution

Once our industry leading installation crew arrived at the home, they began work on the crawlspace right away. To stop moisture from entering the space freely, a vapor barrier needed to be put in place. This started with a Drainage Matting being laid across the floor. This mat holds the moisture beneath itself, not allowing any to enter the atmosphere of the space. It also sits just off the surface of the floor to allow the trapped water to flow and find the best place to drain away back into the soil. To complete the vapor barrier, a CleanSpace liner was used to encapsulate the crawlspace. This liner completely locks out moisture, preventing any water from entering through the walls or floor.

With their new vapor barrier in place, this homeowner will notice the musty smell fade away very soon. The CleanSpace & Drainage Matting combination will ensure this crawlspace remains dry for many years to come!
