West Baldwin, ME Basemen Kept Safe From Flooding With WaterGuard Piping
Challenge
A couple in West Baldwin, ME owned a basement with a concrete foundation surrounding it. This basement, however, was constantly taking on moisture after any rainfall. This was a big problem for the homeowners, because they wanted to use the space for storage and the water would damage their property. To have this problem addressed right away, the homeowners called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
Once our installation crew arrived at the property, they were able to begin work right away. To protect this basement from leaking moisture, a shallow trench was dug into the perimeter of the basement floor and WaterGuard piping was placed down within. The WaterGuard, buried beneath a fresh coat of concrete, will take in the leaking moisture before it reaches the surface of the floor. This trapped water is then guided through the floor to the SuperSump sump pump we installed within the floor. The SuperSump can remove up to 2,650 gallons of water every hour. This water travels out of the home through a PVC discharge line.
Following the piping outside the home, we made two final additions to the line to complete the waterproofing. An IceGuard pipe segment was attached to the discharge line just as it exits the home. This specially designed pipe has holes built into it which only allow for trapped water to escape. This protects the sump from overflowing in the event of ice or other debris blocking the line. Finally, on the end of the line, we attached a LawnScape discharge point. This is where the water exits a safe distance from the home, draining into the soil without causing future problems for these homeowners.
With their new waterproofing in place, the homeowners can now use their basement without fearing any form of water damage. The WaterGuard piping will keep this basement floor dry for many years to come!
