WaterGuard Piping Protects Fayette, ME Basement from Moisture Build-Up
Challenge
A homeowner living in Fayette, ME owned a dirt basement beneath their home which they needed to utilize for storage. The dirt, however, was preventing them from doing this because water would easily leak in during rainfall. To prevent future moisture from entering the space, the homeowner needed the basement waterproofed. To get the job done they called TC Hafford Basement Systems. They received a free estimate on the work-to-be and chose us for the installation.
Solution
As soon as our installation crew arrived at the home they began work on the basement by grading it flat. They then poured a fresh coat of concrete onto the surface to give the basement a proper floor. While the Concrete was installed, WaterGuard pipes were used to line the outer edge of the concrete, just beneath the surface. Within the concrete, these pipes will capture any inbound moisture before it is able to make it out the other side. This will prevent future moisture from gathering on the floor surface. This collected water is guided through the pipes to the sump where it will be removed from the home.
Within the sump in the basement, we installed a SmartDrain system to take in and guide water out of the home. The WaterGuard uses this to lead its collected water to where it will no longer be a threat to the property. To handle any existing moisture in the air and to take care of potential future airborne moisture, we installed a SaniDry CX dehumidifier. This device will take in the surrounding damp air, separating the moisture from it. The dried air is circulated back into the basement while the water is sent to the SmartDrain to be removed from the basement.
With their new waterproof flooring in place, this homeowner can now utilize the space beneath their home without the need to fear water damage! The WaterGuard piping will keep this interior safe for many years into the future!
