WaterGuard Piping Protects Bradford, NH Home from Outside Moisture
Challenge
A homeowner in Bradford, NH was having a problem with their basement. Even with a concrete foundation and a sump in place, water was still gathering on their basement floor. This worried the homeowner because water damage can seriously affect a home. To have their problem resolved before the problem got worse, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
Once our installation crew arrived at the home, they began work on the basement right away. To stop water from entering through the concrete, we excavated a shallow trench into the perimeter of the floor. We then laid WaterGuard piping down within this trench, covering it over with a fresh coating of concrete. Sealed within the floor, the WaterGuard pipes capture the water as it travels through the concrete from the surrounding ground, preventing it from reaching the surface of the floor. The trapped water is then guided to the existing sump in the basement to be removed from the home before it can cause any further problems for the homeowner.
Outside the home, we made two additions to the discharge line coming from the sump before we were done. The first addition was an IceGuard pipe section added just as the line exits the home. This piece has special holes built into it which allow for trapped water to escape. This protects the sump from an overflow if ice or other debris blocks the discharge line. Finally, at the end of the line, we attached a LawnScape discharge point. Here, the water exits the line a safe distance from the home to drain away harmlessly into the ground.
With their new additions in place, this homeowners’ moisture problem is now a thing of the past. The WaterGuard piping will stop the incoming moisture before it ever reaches the surface of the floor.
