Crack in Jonesport, ME Basement Sealed With Polyurethane Injection
Challenge
A couple living in Jonesport, ME noticed a problem which had began in their basement. A crack, which had recently opened on one of their basement walls, was allowing water to leak in after any rainfall and pool up on the floor. Unable to stop this leakage, the homeowners’ needed outside help. After a quick search online, they found the perfect people for the job. They called TC Hafford Basement Systems and we were on the case!
Solution
Once our installation crew arrived at the home, they were able to begin work on the crack right away. After brushing the crack clear of debris with a coarse brush, we were able to begin the sealing process. To seal this crack, an initial layer of sealant was applied over the top of the crack, with plugs placed every few inches as this was applied. Once dried in place, the plugs were opened up and a Polyurethane Injection was used to fill the crack interior. After each injection going up the crack, the plugs were re-sealed, allowing for the Polyurethane to spread throughout the entire crack and dry in place. This formed a perfect seal, locking out any future moisture from attempting to leak in through this small hole in the wall.
With this Polyurethane seal in place, these homeowners will never again need to worry about this crack causing problems. The water on the outside will now stay there thanks to the Polyurethane Injection used to form the seal.
