TripleSafe Sump Upgrade Protects Medway, ME Basement
Challenge
A homeowner in Medway, ME was struggling with keeping their basement water-free. These damp conditions were causing a musty smell to emanate from the space, which is a sign of mold growth. To put an end to this problem, this homeowner needed a solution fast. To get the basement waterproofed and have the problem permanently dealt with, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
Once our installation crew arrived at the home they began work right away. We began by installing a SaniDry XP dehumidifier. This device will pull in the surrounding air, separating it from the airborne moisture within it. The dried air is then circulated back into the space to create a cycle of moisture removal from the air. The water is handed from the SaniDry to the sump where it will be removed. Within the sump we installed a TripleSafe sump pump. This pump, as the name suggests, contains three pumps. The primary and secondary pumps handle the bulk of the water, where the secondary will take over the entire load should the primary fail and require repairs. This allows for them to be made without any down-time. The third pump is a battery-operated backup pump for when the home loses power. The water is forced up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line.
Outside the home, we made two additions to the discharge line to complete the waterproofing of this home. The first of these additions was an IceGuard pipe segment added just where the line leaves the home. This pipe piece has special holes built into it which allow for trapped water to escape. This prevents an overflow in the sump in the event of ice or other debris blocking the line. Finally, on the end of the line, we attached a LawnScape discharge point where the water will exit onto the lawn. This far from the home, the water will no longer be a problem for the homeowner.
With their new improvements to their home, this homeowner will no longer need to put up with the damp conditions beneath their home. The SaniDry & TripleSafe will maintain a dry basement for many years to come!
