WaterGuard Piping Protects Cumberland Foreside, ME Basement From Leakage
Challenge
When a homeowner in Cumberland Foreside, ME was having a problem with moisture entering their basement, they did not know what to do about it. With water leaking in directly through their concrete foundation, this homeowner had no way to stop the leaks on their own. After looking for a remedy, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems and we were on the job!
Solution
Once the TC Hafford installation crew arrived at the home, they began work on the basement right away. To stop the water from leaking in, a shallow trench was dug into the perimeter of the floor, where WaterGuard piping was then laid. These pipes, covered over with a fresh coat of concrete, will now begin to capture all of the water attempting to leak in through the basement floor. This water is then guided through the pipes to the sump, where it enters the SuperSump we installed. This device will pump the collected water up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. The SuperSump can handle up to 2,650 gallons of water per hour, plenty of power to keep this basement free of water.
Outside the home, we made two final additions to the home before we were finished with the basement waterproofing. The first addition was an IceGuard pipe segment added just as the PVC discharge line leaves the home. This section of pipes has holes built into it to allow for trapped water to escape. This will protect the SuperSump from an overflow should ice or other debris block the line. Finally, a LawnScape discharge point was added on the end of the line to let the water out onto the ground. Here, a safe distance from the home, the water will drain harmlessly away into the ground.
With these improvements to their basement, this homeowner will no longer need to be concerned with any form of water damage taking root in their basement. The WaterGuard & SuperSump combination will maintain a dry basement for many years to come!
