Hebron, ME Home Protected From Moisture With WaterGuard & CleanSpace
Challenge
A homeowner living in Hebron, ME was having trouble with water gathering beneath their home. Both their basement and their crawlspace were taking on outside moisture. This was not something the homeowner wanted to live with, so they sought solutions online. After a quick search, they called TC Hafford Basement Systems and we were on the job!
Solution
Once the TC Hafford Installation crew arrived at the home they began work on the basement first. With water leaking in directly through the concrete foundation, it was almost impossible for the homeowner to prevent this leakage on their own. To stop the problem from continuing, we began by digging a shallow trench into the perimeter of the floor. This is where we then laid WaterGuard piping, covering it over with a fresh layer of concrete. Sitting just beneath the surface of the floor, these pipes will capture the leaking moisture in the future. This will prevent any more moisture from reaching the surface of the floor; Instead it will be guided through the WaterGuard to the sump for removal from the home.
Moving to the crawlspace, to prevent moisture from continuing to leak into the space and risk mold problems, we needed to install a vapor barrier. Without one in place, the moisture in the surrounding soil could easily leak into the home and build up, supporting problems such as mold growth or musty smells spreading throughout the home. Handling this problem, our installation crew encapsulated the space with a CleanSpace liner. This liner is composed of a thin plastic, which while covering all of the walls and floor will completely lock out any and all moisture that would have leaked in. This will ensure the crawlspace remains dry for the future, preventing any of these moisture problems from taking root.
With their new waterproofing in place, this homeowner no longer needs to worry about any damp conditions beneath their home. The WaterGuard piping and CleanSpace liner will ensure this home remains dry for many years to come!
