WaterGuard Piping Protects Cushing, ME Basement From Water Damage
Challenge
A homeowner in Cushing, ME was living with a damp basement. Water had been leaking in for as long as the homeowner could remember. Tired of living with these conditions, the homeowner thought it was time to finally do something about it. To get the basement waterproofed, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
Once our installation crew arrived at the home they were able to begin work on the foundation right away. To keep water from entering the basement, we needed to put a barrier within the floor. To do this, we dug a shallow trench into the perimeter of the floor and then laid WaterGuard piping down within the trench. This piping forms a barrier around the basement, capturing any moisture attempting to leak in in the future. These pipes were then buried beneath a fresh coat of concrete to seal them within the floor. This trapped water is then guided through the pipes beneath the floor to the sump where it is removed from the home through a PVC discharge line.
Outside the home, we made two final additions to the discharge line before we were finished. The first was an IceGuard pipe segment to protect the home against ice and other debris that might clog the line. This pipe section has holes built into the sides which allow for trapped water to escape before overflowing the sump. We then capped the end of the line with a LawnScape discharge point. This is where the water exits onto the ground to drain away a safe distance from the home.
With their new basement system in place, this homeowner will never again have water build up across their basement floor. The WaterGuard piping will protect this home from water damage for many years to come!
