WaterGuard Piping & BrightWall Waterproof Hudson, ME Basement

Challenge

A homeowner in Hudson, ME was looking to have their basement turned into a finished space to be used as a living space. Though with water leaking in through the concrete foundation, the homeowner needed the space waterproofed before they could move forward with their plans. To have the space waterproofed, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems.

Solution

Once the TC Hafford installation crew arrived at the home, they went straight to the basement to begin work on the waterproofing of the space. In order to keep water from leaking into the home through the tiny cracks and pores within the concrete, we needed to place a barrier within the floor. This started with a shallow trench being dug into the basement floor where a WaterGuard piping system was installed. These pipes, running the perimeter of the basement, were then buried beneath a fresh coat of concrete. Now trapped within the floor, the WaterGuard piping will capture any of the moisture that would have otherwise leaked up through the floor. This water is then guided through the pipes to a sump for removal.

To take care of the collected water, a SmartSump sump pump was installed in the basement floor. This pump takes the water handed to it by the WaterGuard and forces it out of the home through a PVC discharge line. The water follows this line away from the home where it is let out onto the ground a safe distance from the home. We then covered the walls of the basement with BrightWall panels. These bright white panels will give the basement a bright, finished look, while preventing any leaks from the concrete walls to reach the floor. The panels will funnel any collected water down into the WaterGuard pipes to be removed from the basement without ever appearing on the surface.

With these improvements to their basement, this homeowner can now continue with their plans to finish the space without the need to worry about any water damage occurring. The WaterGuard piping will protect this basement for many years to come!
