Washington, ME Basement Waterproofed Properly With WaterGuard
Challenge
A couple in Washington, ME had a problem with water leaking into their basement. Unable to stop the water because it was leaking directly through their concrete foundation, the homeowners sought a solution. After a quick internet search, they decided to call us at TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
Once our installation crew arrived at the home they began work on the basement right away. With water coming in through the basement floor, we needed to place a barrier within the floor itself. To do this, a shallow trench was dug into the perimeter of the basement floor. We then laid WaterGuard piping down within this trench, covering it over with a fresh layer of cement. Within the floor, the WaterGuard will take in the water that would have otherwise leaking onto the floor. This trapped water is then guided through the piping to the sump where it will be removed from the basement.
To handle the water removal properly, we installed a SuperSump sump pump in this basement floor. The SuperSump is able to move over 2,600 gallons of water every hour. This water is forced up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. This much power will keep the basement clear of any excess moisture. To clear away any airborne moisture left in this basement, we installed a SaniDry CX dehumidifier. This device will pull in the surrounding air to pull the moisture from it. The dried air is circulated back into the basement while the moisture is passed to the sump for removal. Now no moisture will be left to linger in this basement to cause problems.
With their new basement system in place, these homeowners will no longer need to worry about any moisture problems taking root beneath their home. The WaterGuard will carry away water before it ever even reaches the basement floor.
