TripleSafe Upgrade Protects Hiram, ME Basement Against Flooding
Challenge
A homeowner in Hiram, ME was living with a damp basement. The conditions beneath this home were always either damp or flooded. Unable to stop the leaks from happening, the homeowner sought ways to protect their home. Tired of living with a flooding basement, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
As soon as the TC Hafford installation crew arrived at the home, we began work on the basement right away. To stop water from flooding the floor, the water needed a way out. We installed a TripleSafe sump pump to do give the basement just that. The TripleSafe contains three pumps within itself, hence the name. The first second pumps both handle the bulk of the water, with the secondary pump taking over for the primary if it fails for any reason. This allows for repairs to be made without any down-time in the water-removal. Finally, the third pump is a battery-operated backup pump to take over in the event the home loses power.
The water from the sump is pumped out of the home through a PVC discharge line. This line carries the water away from the home, deposited it through a LawnScape discharge port on the end. This far from the home the water will no longer be able to reach the home to cause further problems. An IceGuard pipe segment was also attached to the discharge line just outside the home. This pipe piece has special holes built into it which allow for trapped water to escape. This protects the sump from an overflow if ice or other debris blocks the line.
With their new sump in place, this homeowner will no longer have water pooling up across their basement floor. The TripleSafe sump pump will ensure this basement remains dry for many years to come!
