SuperSump Upgrades Saves Brownfield, ME Basement From Flooding
Challenge
A couple living in Brownfield, ME were having a problem with their basement. Outside moisture was leaking into their basement through the concrete foundation. Unable to stop this on their own and needing this problem dealt with before it got any worse, these homeowners called TC Hafford Basement Systems to set up their free estimate.
Solution
As soon as our installation crew arrived at the home they moved straight to the basement to begin work. To keep the incoming water at bay, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This device sits beneath the surface of the floor and takes in any moisture that would have otherwise gathered on the floor. This water is forced up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. We also installed a SaniDry XP dehumidifier for the moisture already existing and in the air of this basement. The SaniDry will take in the damp air, separate the moisture from it and redistribute it into the basement. The water is then passed to the sump for removal from the home.
Following the discharge line outside, we attached two final additions to the discharge line before we were finished. The first of these additions was an IceGuard pipe segment connected just as the line exits the home. This piece has special holes built into it which allow for trapped water to escape; protecting the sump from an overflow in the event of a blockage. On the end of the line we attached a LawnScape discharge point where the water exits onto the ground. Here, the water is far enough from the home to not cause any future problems for the homeowners.
With their new waterproofing system in place, this couple can now utilize their basement space without the need to fear water damage. With a dry floor and healthy air, this basement is no longer susceptible to any form of water damage!
