FlexiSpan Sealant Saves South Thomaston, ME Crawlspace
Challenge
A homeowner in South Thomaston, ME was living with an exceptionally damp crawlspace beneath their home. After several cracks opened up in the concrete walls surrounding this crawlspace, the homeowner began to notice the problem starting with a musty smell. Smells often mean a mold problem, which could lead to potential health problems to the homeowner. Looking to have the cracks sealed properly before the problem got worse, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
Once the TC Hafford installation crew arrived at the home, they began work on sealing the five cracks that had opened up across the walls of the crawlspace. To seal them, a FlexiSpan seal was used. This started with the cracks each being brushed clear of debris using a coarse brush. The first of the three pieces of FlexiSpan is a layer of sealant applied within each of the cracks. Over the top of this layer, a foam mat was used to act as the backbone of the FlexiSpan structure. Finally, a second layer of sealant was used to seal each of the structures in place. With the FlexiSpan completed, the water from the surrounding soil would no longer be able leak into this home so easily.
With their new seals in place, this homeowner should notice the smell fade away shortly after our crew finished. The FlexiSpan seals will keep this home dry and with healthy air for many years to come!
