Moisture Problem Eradicated in Palmyra, ME Basement
Challenge
A homeowner in Palmyra, ME was struggling with moisture leaking into their basement and crawlspace. Unable to handle the water on their own, this homeowner sought out professional assistance right away. Once they found TC Hafford Basement systems they gave us a call and we were on the job!
Solution
Once the installation crew arrived at the home, they began work on the crawlspace first. They started by laying a Drainage Matting across the floor. This mat sits just off the surface of the floor, holding the moisture beneath itself while allowing it to flow and drain away. We then encapsulated the crawlspace with a CleanSpace liner. This is a thin plastic sheet which covers all of the walls as well as the floor. The CleanSpace will lock out outside moisture, keeping the inside of the crawlspace dry for the future.
Moving on to the basement, we needed to upgrade the sump to deal with the water gathering on the floor. We installed a SuperSump sump pump to do just this. The SuperSump forces the water up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. With a pumping force of 2,650 gallons per hour, the SuperSump is more than capable of keeping this basement free of water. Just where the PVC discharge line leaves the home, we attached an IceGuard pipe segment on the outside. This pipe piece has angled holes built into its sides which allow for trapped water to escape. Now if ice or other debris blocks the line, it will exit the line before backing up and overflowing the sump.
With their new systems in place beneath their home, this homeowner will no longer have a problem with moisture! The SuperSump and CleanSpace will keep this home dry for many years to come!
