North Anson, ME Basement & Crawlspace Waterproofed Properly
Challenge
A homeowner in North Anson, ME was having trouble with both their crawlspace and their basement. Water would leak in during any rainfall, which the homeowner was struggling to remove. To have the problem dealt with professionally they sought a solution online. Once they came across TC Hafford Basement Systems they knew they came to the right place. They called us and received their free estimate shortly after.
Solution
Once our installation crew arrived at the home they began work first on the crawlspace beneath the home. To remedy the moisture problem in this space we needed to install a proper vapor barrier. To do this, we started by Grading the floor of the crawlspace, leveling out the surface as well as removing any debris that was on the floor. We then encapsulated the crawlspace with a CleanSpace liner. This thin plastic sheet covers the walls as well as the floor. The CleanSpace completely locks out any outside moisture, maintaining a dry interior for this crawlspace.
Moving to the basement beneath the home, we aimed to upgrade the sump. To do this, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This device can move up to 2,650 gallons of water every hour out of the home. This water travels up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. Just outside the home, we attached an IceGuard pipe segment to this discharge line. The IceGuard has special holes built into the sides which allow trapped water to escape the line. Now when ice or other debris creates a blockage, the sump is safe from an overflow.
With their new vapor barrier and sump pump in place, this homeowners moisture problem is a thing of the past! The SuperSump will keep this basement clear of water for many years to come!
