Sump Upgrade Protects West Enfield, ME Basement From Water Damage
Challenge
A homeowner in West Enfield, ME had been struggling to keep their basement free of water. Any rainfall meant this homeowner was in their basement pumping out water manually. Tired of this, the homeowner sought a solution. The homeowner soon called TC Hafford Basement Systems to get the job done.
Solution
Able to help this homeowner in the automation of their basement water-removal, our installation crew headed over to the home and got to work! To begin, they installed a SuperSump sump pump in the floor of the basement. This pump will take the water gathering on the floor and force it out of the home through a PVC discharge line. The SuperSump can move over 2,600 gallons of water every hour. Keeping the SuperSump running in any weather, we attached an UltraSump backup battery. This will give the SuperSump an 11,000 gallons lifespan worth of water pumping if the home loses power. This will keep the home safe from a flood even in particularly heavy rainfall.
Following the discharge line outside, our crew made two final additions before they were done with this home. The first of these additions was an IceGuard pipe segment. This piece, added just where the discharge line leaves the home, has special holes built into it to allow trapped water to escape. This prevent an overflow in the sump if ice or debris blocks the line. The water then continues through the line to be deposited across the lawn. The water exits through a LawnScape discharge point, draining safely into the earth; never to bother this homeowner again.
With their new basement system in place, this homeowner can now utilize the space without fear of water damage during rainfall. With the SuperSump in place, this homeowner will never again need to manually remove water from their basement!
