WaterGuard Piping Saves Boothbay Harbor, ME Basement From Moisture
Challenge
A Boothbay Harbor, ME homeowner had been living with a wet basement for some time. Unsure how to stop this leakage on their own, the homeowner needed outside help. They soon discovered TC Hafford Basement Systems and knew we were the ones for the job. They gave us a call and we got to work!
Solution
As soon as our installation crew arrived at the home they began work on the leaking concrete foundation. To prevent water from leaking in through the tiny pores within the concrete we dug a shallow trench into the perimeter of the floor. We then laid WaterGuard piping down within this trench. The WaterGuard, buried beneath a fresh coat of concrete, will capture the leaking water from now on before it reaches the surface. This trapped water is guided through the pipes beneath the floor to the sump where it will leave the home.
With the new WaterGuard piping in place, the sump in this basement floor would need help handling the increase in water concentration. To handle this increase we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This pump will force the collected water up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. The SuperSump can move over 2,600 gallons of water every hour. This will be more than powerful enough to take on the water being passed to it by the WaterGuard.
With their new basement system in place this homeowner will no longer find a damp basement beneath their home. The WaterGuard & SuperSump combination will ensure this basement remains dry for many years to come!
