Lincolnville, ME Basement Waterproofed With WaterGuard Piping
Challenge
A homeowner in Lincolnville, ME had a basement which would regularly leak during any rainfall. With a concrete foundation in place, the homeowner didn’t have a way to stop the water from leaking in. To put an end to this leakage, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems to set up their free estimate.
Solution
Once the TC Hafford installation crew arrived at the home, they began work right away on the basement by digging a trench into the perimeter of the floor, even underneath a door leading to the outside from the basement. Within this trench, we laid down WaterGuard piping, which will capture any leaking water in the future before it even reaches the basement interior. We laid a TrenchDrain pipe segment beneath the door. When the WaterGuard is sealed within the floor beneath a coat of concrete, the TrenchDrains grated surface remains level with the floor surface. This is so that when rainwater leaks in beneath the door it will fall down into the piping.
The water collected in the pipes is guided beneath the floor surface to the sump for removal. With all this water being gathered in the sump, this basement was going to need an upgrade to keep up with the increase in flow. To achieve this, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. The SuperSump forces the collected water up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. The SuperSump is capable of moving over 2,600 gallons of water every hour. Now any water that would have leaked into this basement will be forced outside before it causes harm.
Now that the homeowner has a waterproofing system in place, their water problems are a thing of the past. The WaterGuard piping will ensure this concrete basement floor remains dry for many years to come!
