Starks, ME Basement Kept Water-Free With WaterGuard Installment
Challenge
A homeowner living in Starks, ME had been having trouble with the amount of water that had been gathering on their concrete basement floor. Unsure how to stop these leaks on their own, the homeowner searched for a way to resolve the problem. Once they found TC Hafford Basement Systems they made the call!
Solution
Once the TC Hafford installation crew arrived at the home, they got to work right away on the solution for this water problem. To begin, a shallow trench was dug into the basement floor. This trench was then filled with a WaterGuard piping, followed by loose rocks and another layer of concrete. Sealed beneath the surface of the floor, the pipes will capture any moisture leaking through the concrete toward the interior of the basement. The water is then guided through the floor to the sump where it will be removed from the basement.
To handle the water-removal within this basement, we installed a SuperSump sump pump in the floor. This pump takes in the water from the WaterGuard, forcing it up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. The SuperSump can force up to 2,650 gallons of water out of the home every hour. This will ensure no water makes it to the interior of the basement. Keeping the SuperSump active in any weather, we attached an UltraSump backup battery. This will enable the SuperSump to continue to pump for up to 11,000 gallons after the home loses power.
Following the discharge line away from the home, we attached a LawnScape discharge point to the end of the line. Here, the water is able to drain away into the ground safely, where it will no longer be able to bother this homeowner. To protect the sump from overflows, we attached an IceGuard pipe segment to the discharge line just where it left the home. This piece has special holes built in which allow for any trapped water to escape. Now if ice or other debris blocks the line, the water will be able to exit before it has a chance to reach the basement floor again.
With their new basement system in place, this homeowner will never again experience a wet basement floor! The WaterGuard piping will ensure the basement floor stays completely dry for years to come!
