TC Hafford Protects Minot, ME Basement from Frequent Leaks
Challenge
A struggling Minot, ME homeowner was in need of some basement waterproofing. Having to manually remove water after every major rainfall was tiring for this homeowner. After seeking the solution to their problem, the homeowner knew they made the right choice. They soon called TC Hafford Basement Systems to get the job done.
Solution
With a concrete foundation beneath their home, the homeowner needed a barrier placed between the surrounding soil and the interior of the basement. This will prevent water from entering through the tiny pores within the concrete. To do this, a shallow trench was dug into the perimeter of the floor. After laying WaterGuard piping down within the floor, the trench was filled in with fresh concrete. Sealed within the floor, the WaterGuard piping will capture this inward traveling moisture, preventing it from ever reaching the surface. This removes the need for the homeowner to get involved with the water-removal within their basement.
The water trapped within the WaterGuard is guided through the floor to the sump where it will be removed. To help this basement keep up with the amount of water gathered by the WaterGuard, we installed a SuperSump sump pump within this basement floor. The SuperSump can handle over 2,600 gallons of water every hour. This water is forced up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. It is carried away from the home through this line and deposited onto the ground where it will drain away safely.
With their new automated basement system, this homeowner will never again need to manually remove water from this basement. With the WaterGuard in place, this homeowner won’t even see the water being removed.
