WaterGuard Piping Prevents Bethel, ME Basement Flooding
Challenge
A struggling Bethel, ME homeowner was having trouble keeping their basement free of water. With only a sump in the floor, water would regularly gather across the basement. This required the homeowner to get involved and manually remove the water. Tired of this, the homeowner contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems to have their home properly waterproofed.
Solution
Once the TC Hafford installation crew arrived at the home, they began work on the concrete foundation. To stop water from leaking through the tiny pores of the concrete, we dug a shallow trench into the perimeter of the basement floor. Inside this trench we buried WaterGuard piping beneath a fresh coat of concrete. This piping beneath the floor will capture the leaking moisture from now on. The water will no longer be able to leak onto the surface of this floor with the WaterGuard in place.
The water from the WaterGuard is guided and deposited into the newly installed SuperSump sump pump. This device can handle up to 2,650 gallons of water every hour. The water is forced up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line where it is released through a LawnScape discharge point on the end. Here the water is no longer a threat to the home. We attached an IceGuard pipe segment to the discharge line just outside the home. This piece has special holes built into its sides which allow for any trapped water to escape. This prevents an overflow in the basement if ice or debris blocks the line.
With their newly waterproofed basement, this homeowner will no longer need to get involved with the water removal. The WaterGuard piping will ensure a dry basement floor for this home from now on.
