Shapleigh, ME Basement Finished With ThermalDry Flooring

Challenge

A homeowner in Shapleigh wanted to finish their home basement. They had a problem though; their basement would regularly be found with water across the surface of the floor. They would need this problem dealt with if they wanted to move ahead with the finishing. To have the moisture addressed the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems.

Solution

To waterproof the floor of this basement, we needed to prevent moisture from leaking through the tiny pores within the foundation. We began by excavating a shallow trench in the perimeter of the floor. WaterGuard piping was then laid within this trench to capture the leaking moisture. After the WaterGuard was covered over with fresh concrete, we laid ThermalDry tile flooring across the basement. This insulated tiling will remove the “cold to the touch” aspect of the basement floor, creating a much more pleasant space.

With this waterproofing system in place, the water that used to attempt to leak into this basement would now be directed to the sump for removal from the home. The WaterGuard piping ensures this moisture is removed before ever reaching the surface. Now this homeowner can finish their basement with peace of mind that it will remain safe from water damage.
