WaterGuard Piping Saves Bristol, ME Basement From Minor Flooding
Challenge
A homeowner in Bristol, ME had a basement that was in desperate need of waterproofing. Even with a sump pump in the floor, water would still gather in puddles away from the pump. Water was even leaking in under a door attached to the basement. To have the space properly waterproofed, they called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
To keep the basement dry, our installation crew began work on the concrete floor by digging a trench around the perimeter, down into the floor. To protect against moisture leaking through the pores of the concrete, we needed to put a barrier within the concrete. We laid WaterGuard piping down within the floor as well as a TrenchDrain attachment added beneath the door. The WaterGuard piping was then buried beneath fresh concrete while the TrenchDrain was left flush with the surface of the floor. This way any water entering through the foundation will be trapped within the pipes while any coming under the door will be trapped through the open-faced grate of the TrenchDrain. This water is then guided to the sump for removal from the home.
With these additions to their basement, this homeowner will no longer experience puddles forming across their basement floor. The WaterGuard piping will ensure the floor stays dry for many years to come by containing the water before it even reaches the surface.
