TripleSafe Sump Upgrade Protects Corinth, ME Basement Against Flooding
Challenge
A homeowner in Corinth, ME was having trouble with keeping their basement water-free. During any rainstorms, if they weren’t down in the basement manually removing water, they would usually come down to a flooded basement. Tired of this and seeking solutions, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
As soon as the TC Hafford installation crew arrived at the home they were able to start work right away. To handle the water gathering across the floor and remove it automatically, we installed a TripleSafe sump pump. This device houses three pumps within itself, the first of these pumps handles the bulk of the water. The secondary pump backs up the first whenever it can’t handle the entirety of the incoming water. The third and final pump is battery operated and acts as a backup pump for when the home loses power. The water from the TripleSafe is pumped up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line.
The water follows this discharge line out and away from the home where it is deposited through a LawnScape discharge point onto the ground a safe distance away. To protect the home from potential problems, we attached an IceGuard pipe section to the discharge line just beyond where it exits the home. The IceGuard piece has angled holes built into it which allow for trapped water to escape. This will protect the sump from an overflow if ice or other debris were to block the line. The trapped water is able to leave through the IceGuard without any problems being caused back within the home.
With their new sump upgrade in place, this homeowner will never again need to manually remove water from their basement. The TripleSafe sump pump will keep this basement water-free for many years to come!
