Mechanic Falls, ME Basement Kept Dry Despite Rainfall
Challenge
A homeowner in Mechanic Falls, ME had been having trouble dealing with water in their basement. Even with a concrete foundation beneath their home, rainwater would still flood in through the floor of the basement. To put an end to the flooding, the homeowner sought professional assistance. They soon called TC Hafford Basement Systems and our crew was on the case.
Solution
Once the TC Hafford installation crew arrived at the home they were able get to work on the basement immediately. To begin the waterproofing of this basement, we dug a shallow trench into the perimeter of the basement floor. We then laid down WaterGuard piping within this trench. After being covered over with a fresh layer of concrete, the WaterGuard will capture any moisture leaking in through the pores of the concrete. No more moisture will be leaking onto the surface of this basement floor now that the WaterGuard is in place.
The water gathered within the WaterGuard is then guided through the piping to the sump where it will be removed from the basement. To handle the water removal process, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. The SuperSump can output 2,650 gallons of water every hour. This will keep the basement clear of water no matter how heavily a storm rains. The water exits the home through a PVC discharge line where it is carried away from the home to drain away safely into the ground.
With their new basement system in place, this homeowner will no longer need to worry about a flooding basement. The WaterGuard piping will stop any leaks before they ever reach the surface.
