CleanSpace Liner Saves Boothbay, ME Crawlspace From Moisture Problem

Challenge

A couple living in Boothbay, ME had lately been noticing a smell emanating from their crawlspace. This musty smell was clearly a sign of a moisture problem, which the homeowners feared could lead to mold growth or water damage. To have the problem controlled before it got out of hand, the homeowners called TC Hafford Basement Systems.

Solution

Once our installation crew arrived at the home they were able to begin work on the crawlspace right away. To begin work on the crawlspace, a Drainage Matting was laid across the surface of the floor. This matting sits just off the surface to help hold back moisture while allowing for any water beneath it to flow and find a space to drain back into the dirt. Over this, we encapsulated the space with a CleanSpace liner. This is a thin sheet of plastic which tightly covers the interior of the crawlspace. With the CleanSpace in place, the outside moisture will now be completely locked out of the interior of the crawlspace. This creates a full vapor barrier to protect this space for the future.

With their completed vapor barrier in place, this couple will no longer suffer from a musty smell, or any moisture problems in their crawlspace. The CleanSpace & Drainage Matting will keep outside water out of this home for many years to come!
