WaterGuard Saves Clinton, ME Basement From Flooding
Challenge
A homeowner in Clinton, ME had been experiencing difficulties keeping their basement free of water. Even with a concrete foundation, they still would find themselves manually removing water after any hard rainfall. This problem needed to stop, and the homeowner knew just who to call, TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
Once the TC Hafford installation crew arrived at the home, they began work on the foundation right away. To seal out future moisture, a barrier was needed to hold back the water. This installation started with a shallow trench being dug into the perimeter of the basement floor. We then laid WaterGuard piping down within this trench, filling it in with fresh cement to seal the pipe in place. Within the floor, the WaterGuard will capture the leaking moisture, trapping it before it ever reaches the surface. This will maintain a dry basement floor from now on.
The WaterGuard then guides this trapped water to the sump for removal. With an increase in water concentration entering the sump due to the WaterGuard, we needed to upgrade the sump in this home to keep up. We installed a SuperSump sump pump to do just that. The SuperSump can handle up to 2,650 gallons of water every hour. This pump forces the water up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. The water is carried by this line away from the home where it is deposited onto the ground far enough away to not cause any future problems.
With the WaterGuard & SuperSump in place, this homeowner will never need to manually pump water again. This system will ensure this basement stays water-free for years to come!
