WaterGuard Piping Prevents Future Litchfield, ME Basement Leakage
Challenge
A struggling Litchfield, ME homeowner had a water problem in their basement. Unsure how to approach the problem, the homeowner sought professional help. With water leaking in through their concrete foundation, the homeowner took action by calling TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
The natural pores in the structure of concrete allows for water to force its way into an unequipped home. Once the TC Hafford installation crew arrived at the home, they began work right away on the solution to this problem. First, a shallow trench was excavated into the perimeter of the basement floor. This is where our crew then laid down WaterGuard piping. Buried beneath the surface by a layer of freshly poured concrete, the newly installed pipes will now capture the moisture leaking in before it reaches the surface of the floor. This water is guided through the WaterGuard to the sump for removal from the home.
To take on the job of water removal, we installed a SmartSump sump pump. This device will take the water from the WaterGuard and force it up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. It follows this line until it is deposited onto the ground through the LawnScape discharge port on the end. To keep the sump safe from an overflow, we attached an IceGuard pipe segment onto the discharge line just outside the home. This piece has special holes built into the sides which would allow for blocked water to escape should ice or debris clog the line.
These new additions to this home will ensure this basement remains dry and leak-free. This homeowners’ wet basement problem is now a thing of the past!
