Sump Upgrade Protects Kennebunkport, ME Basement From Leakage
Challenge
A homeowner in Kennebunkport owned a basement which would seemingly take on water after any rainfall. Water seemed to leak in and linger for a long time after any rainfall. Wanting something done about this, the homeowner sought a solution. After a little looking around, they called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
As soon as the TC Hafford crew arrived they were able to begin work. To put an end to the leakage, we needed to give the water a way to leave the basement. We installed a SuperSump sump pump to do just that. The SuperSump will move over 2,600 gallons of water every hour, forcing the moisture out through a PVC discharge line. To maintain the flow of water even when a storm is powerful enough to knock out power in the home, we attached an UltraSump sump pump. This device will give the SuperSump an extra 11,000 gallons worth of pumping before requiring a charge.
Now that the moisture on the floor has been dealt with, it was time to handle the moisture in the air. To achieve this, we installed a SaniDry XP dehumidifier. The SaniDry will take in the damp air surrounding it, drying it out and recirculating it back into the basement. The removed water is deposited into the sump from the SaniDry where it is pumped out of the home. The air being circulated back into the basement causes more damp air to flow back toward the SaniDry to be dried. This process continues until the basement air is dry and healthy.
With their new system installed in their basement, this homeowner can now utilize the space for whatever needs they may have without the fear of water damage. The SuperSump will keep the floor clear of water for many years to come!
