Sanbornville, NH Basement Properly Sealed

Challenge

A struggling Sanbornville, NH homeowner was having a hard time keeping their basement free of water. With water leaking in directly through the concrete foundation, this homeowner had been manually pumping out any standing water. Tired of this, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems to have the problem resolved.

Solution

As soon as the TC Hafford installation crew arrived at the property they began work on the floor right away. With a concrete foundation, water can leak in through the naturally forming pores. To protect against this, we dug a trench into the perimeter of the floor, laying WaterGuard piping down beneath the floor. Burying this piping beneath a fresh layer of concrete, this will now keep the surface of the floor water-free. Any leaking moisture will become trapped in the WaterGuard, where it is guided to the sump for removal.

To keep up with the newly increased concentration of water entering the sump, we installed a SuperSump sump pump in this basement floor. The SuperSump can handle over 2,600 gallons of water every hour, plenty of power for dealing with some leaking rainwater. Water is forced through the SuperSump up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. To keep this flow going even without power in the home, we attached an UltraSump backup battery to the pump. This battery will enable the SuperSump to continue to operate for up to 11,000 gallons of water before requiring a charge.

Following the discharge line outside, our crew made two final additions before they were done. The first of these additions was an IceGuard pipe segment attached to the line just outside the home. This piece has special holes built into it which allow for any trapped water to escape. This prevents an overflow in the sump in the event of an ice blockage in the line. Finally, the water exits the line a safe distance from the home through a LawnScape discharge point. The water drains away into the ground here, never to bother this homeowner again.

With their new basement system in place, this homeowner will never again need to manually pump water. The WaterGuard & SuperSump is completely automated and will keep this basement dry.
