Water Leakage in Winterport, ME Basement
Challenge
A homeowner in Winterport, ME was living with a damp basement. Even with a concrete foundation beneath the home, water was still leaking in nonetheless. Unsure how to stop this leakage on their own, the homeowner turned to the professionals. They soon called TC Hafford Basement Systems to have the work done.
Solution
Once the TC Hafford installation crew arrived at the home, they moved straight to the basement to begin work. To stop future leakage into this basement, we needed to place a barrier within the concrete foundation. We dug out a shallow trench around the perimeter of the basement floor, here we laid WaterGuard piping. Burying this piping beneath a new layer of concrete, the WaterGuard pipes will now capture any moisture leaking through the pores within the foundation. This trapped water is guided through the pipes to the sump for removal.
Moving on to the sump, we needed to upgrade this one to help it keep up with the water flow from the WaterGuard. To achieve this, we installed a TripleSafe sump pump. This device contains three individual pumps. The first of these pumps handles the bulk of the water. The secondary pump takes over for the primary if it can’t handle all of the water for whatever reason. This also allows for the primary to receive repairs without pump down-time should the primary need repairs. The third and final pump is a battery-operated pump to take over when the home loses power. All of the water leaving through the TripleSafe is carried out and away from the home through a PVC discharge line.
Now this homeowner has peace of mind when it comes to their basement. The WaterGuard & TripleSafe combination will be just about impossible for any storm to overcome.
