WaterGuard Piping Protects Madawaska, ME Basement from Damage
Challenge
A homeowner of Madawaska, ME had begun to notice signs of water damage appear on their wooden basement floor. Needing the water problem solved fast, the homeowner needed professional assistance. To have the job done properly, they called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
Once the TC Hafford installation crew arrived at the home, they began work on the floor right away by removing tiles to access the concrete foundation. A shallow trench was then dug into the perimeter of the basement floor. Within this trench we laid WaterGuard piping. These pipes, buried beneath a fresh layer of concrete, will capture any water attempting to leak in through the pores of the concrete. This trapped water is guided beneath the floor to the sump for removal.
To keep the water flowing out and away from the home, we installed a SuperSump pump in the sump of this basement. The SuperSump can handle loads of up to 2,650 gallons of water every hour. This will be able to take on any leakage this home might encounter. The water from the sump is pumped up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. To maintain a steady flow of water even in the harshest of storms, we attached an UltraSump backup battery to the SuperSump in the floor. The UltraSump will allow the SuperSump to continue pumping water for up to 11,000 gallons even after the home loses power.
With their new basement system in place and their floor pieced back together, this homeowner will never again see the affects of water damage in this basement. The WaterGuard piping will stop any potential leak before it happens.
